In the Beginning

In the beginning...

The birthplace of an actual national service fraternity was established when the Beta chapter was founded at the University of Pittsburgh, in what is now a part of Region V, on January 11, 1927.

Purpose and scope of regions...

Regions were established by the 1967 Constitutional Convention. At the 1978 National Convention, there were some minor adjustments to regional boundaries. At that time, we lost Western Kentucky and Xi Psi chapter and we gained Upsilon Beta chapter. Regional Representatives were designated to serve as elected members tot he Board of Directors and were originally given four years terms. Subsequently, the position title was changed to Regional Director and the length of office was changed to two year terms.
