Service Rocks at the Xi Upsilon Chapter
Every semester the Xi Upsilon Chapter at Mount Union College holds a Cope Courtyard Clean Up service project in commemoration of Daniel Miner, an eagle scout and a student at Mount Union College that we lost far to early in his life and whose memory the re-founding of our chapter is dedicated. An average of 30-40 Brothers, Pledges, Advisors and Alumni attend this service project. The location of the Courtyard is in the middle of the music building where Dan spent a lot of his time. This courtyard has a tree that was planted there in honor of Dan and our chapter is dedicated to maintaining this space in his honor. This is a very special project where brotherhood and service are united; we spend our time cleaning up the grounds, trimming the Ivy, and allowing active brothers, pledges, advisor and alumni to gather, do service and get to know each other. It may be a small space to maintain, but it is huge part of our chapter.

National Service Week – November 1-7, 2009
The 2009-2010 Program of Emphasis is: “Blue and Gold Go Green: Environmentalism”
The theme for 2009 is “The Fifth field of Service: Service to the Earth”
Chapters have to report whether your chapter did a project or not (click here) as it is required to be an active chapter. But what we want is for the chapters to use this time to showcase their Service program. There isn’t a better way to honor this great fraternity that you are a Brother in than by doing service during National Service Week?!
TELL ALL ABOUT IT!
Regina is here to not only be a resource for you in helping you come up with service projects and plan them; she wants to be your cheerleader! Tell her all about your projects so she can share your great ideas with the rest of the fraternity and the world. You come up with THE best projects and she wants to tell everyone about it! Part of her job in being the Regional Service Chair is to also serve on the National Service Committee. Any ideas that you have that could benefit the Service Program nationally, please pass them along so that she can share them.
There is plenty of assistance to help you plan your
National Service Week activities:
- there is a Handbook (http://www.apo.org/site/site_files/NSW_handbook.pdf ),
- there is an APO Impact webinar on 9/30/09
- there is a database of past projects done by chapters
- the Sectional Service / Regional Service Chairs
- and apo.org! There is a wealth of info on this site! Check it out!

Something Regina has noticed over the last few years is how many quotes that chapters have added to t-shirts, and she thinks that's awesome!
